What it do, Lowell High School. So the Fall rally had past; can somebody say crackin’ !!! First off, the hallways were pretty legit. Since the theme was “Where in the world…”, I feel like the classes did great. Hella great. Another note, the class dance-off was absolutely AMAZING. It’s really interesting seeing different dance moves incorporated into certain songs, and that just shows how creative Lowell students are. Props to the junior class though, fish costumes in dance = that’s whatsup.

I also put in a new game this year – The Pedometer game. Yes, it’s the device that measures steps and not a measuring tool for pedophiles. But anyways, I feel like that was a great addition to the rally, but the thing that left me awestruck was the tug-of-war. How did us seniors lose to the sophomores?! Hahaha it’s whatever, as long as everybody had fun. New subject. Guess what it is. Limbo. There is no way you could be so great at limbo. It was astonishing to watch all the contestants limbo, because a lot of them got low, low low low…. TO THE WINDOWS, TO THE WALLS. I feel like they all practice their limbo techniques in the shower. Or something. So in conclusion, this was a great rally to start off the school year! I hope everybody had a great time, and that you’ll all be looking forward to the Spring Rally!!!

Do work,

Calvin T. Ma.

On Friday, October 15th, 2010, the junior class hosted a scavenger hunt after school. With 55 things to find, each group went sprinting off in all directions in hopes of winning the grand prize of Escape tickets. Each team, armed with only one camera per group of four had to move fast to find the various items on the list. Group members used their creativity and people skills to complete tasks such as “fist bump a baby” and “hold the world in your hands”. There was an extra tricky item on the list: find the hidden picture of the 2012 board (this one was worth bonus points). The competition was tough with 16 groups competing for the grand prize.

Scheduled weather report=rainy and gross.

Actual weather=not rainy!!

We even saw some blue sky and sun out there! We were super lucky. Despite some of our worries, the 2012 Car Wash was a great success! The event was held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 from 10-4 at the Lowell parking lot. We got quite a few cars rolling in and at one point, there was a line of cars trailing out the gate. That means more moolah for our class. Cha-ching!! A lot of really nice people came to the car wash and made generous donations. A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who helped us clean the cars:

Clue sheets in hand, they ran around the school
They played the game, SBC kept score
Running &sweating aside, it was pretty darn cool!

FRESHMAN SCAVENGER HUNT!

Last Friday, September 3rd, freshmen in teams of 3 &4 ran all over the school, deciphering clues that led them to different locations from all over the school.  SBC members, a couple of wonderful LSA volunteers, &Mr. Lee were stationed at each place, signing off on each team’s clues.  The vending machine hallway was probably the hardest clue for the freshmen to solve, a handful of them thinking that “cutty” referred to cutting things with scissors &headed to the art rooms instead.  However, everyone did a great job.  I’ve never seen so many people run so fast at once!  Congrats to the first place team, Team GJWEIOTWT?, who won free tickets to homecoming!

The freshman mixer was last Wednesday, August 25th. This year, SBC wanted to add some more freshman-only events to get the new Lowellites to meet new people and to get better accustomed to our unique school events. We collaborated with Peer Resources, asking the mentors and coaches to come with their mentees to make the freshmen feel more comfortable. We played Fruit Basket, learning new things about each other while running around a little bit, Freeze Dance, which morphed into more of a freestyle circle, Telephone Charades, which was hysterical and surprisingly challenging, and Hands on Deck, a game of craziness and numbers. SBC also provided jello and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (Where there is food, there will always be people!) We had a great turnout; over a hundred freshmen, mentors and coaches, and LSA and SBC members showed up! Everyone had a whole lot of fun playing games, eating, and being crazy for that one day, and hopefully this event will return in the future. : )
